We live in a world where the same “dream destinations” keep showing up everywhere online.

The perfect villas.
The famous beaches.
The iconic sunsets.
The luxury resorts everyone seems to rave about.

And yes, many of those places are beautiful!

But recently, while coaching a couple planning a special getaway, I was reminded of something important:

Sometimes people fall in love with the idea of a destination before asking themselves what they actually want from the experience.

After doing proper research, they realised the famous "exotic" destination they had chosen would cost far more than expected... expensive flights, overpriced stays, crowds, and pressure to “make it worth it.”

Once we shifted focus from the famous place to the desired experience, everything changed.

They discovered other destinations much closer to home that still offered:
☀️ sunshine
🌊 beautiful beaches
✨ luxury vibes
🍹 relaxation
🚤 excursions and experiences

…but with lower costs, less stress, fewer crowds, and more room in the budget for things they would genuinely enjoy.

Instead of spending everything getting there, they could now splurge on:

• spa treatments
• better hotels
• romantic dinners
• experiences
• longer stays
• and actual peace of mind

And honestly? That sounds far more fulfilling.

This happens more often than people admit.

Some travellers visit famous European cities expecting a movie-like romantic experience… only to feel overwhelmed by crowds, queues, language barriers, noise, and exhaustion from trying to “see everything.”

Others book trendy island destinations because everybody online says they’re “a must”… then realise they aren’t really beach people at all! They actually wanted culture, adventure, food, or rest.

Famous does not always equal fulfilling.

The best trip is rarely the one designed to impress other people.
It’s the one that genuinely fits you.

So before choosing your next destination, ask yourself:
“Do I truly want this experience… or do I just love how it looks online?”
